I'm currently deploying with this method but I'm storing my database.yml in the source code repositiory - I'd prefer not to, so that the database password wasn't there. If there is a straightforward way to deploy an application without database.yml (copying it or writing it on the fly or something) then that would be very useful. (p.s. Railscasts rock by the way!)

When I started learning Rails, I came across deprec (deprec.org) about the same time as capistrano. Deprec is wonderful - but I'm now sorta stuck, as there is little capistrano howto: I'm e.g. clueless on what is provided by deprec and what is part of capistrano.
A guide that combines cap, passenger, SVN repo on the server, deploy scripts, monit etc. would be wonderful.

perhaps you could also suggest a nice way for "maintanance mode" of an application (instead of overwriteing a running one and then hit restart.txt when its done)
